Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen union are voting on a tentative contract with NJ Transit that could avoid a possible crippling rail strike, with voting to conclude Tuesday.

“Voting is underway by mail,” said James Horwitz, a BLE&T spokesman. “Turnout has been extremely high.”

Ballots will be counted later in the day on April 15 and union officials will announce the results that day or early on April 16, he said.
