Boeing, Union Workers to Resume Contract Negotiations Amid Strike

  • 08-25-2025

ST. LOUIS – Talks between Boeing and the Machinists Union are set to resume Monday morning, marking the first meeting since union members went on strike in early August.

Union members, represented by the International Association of Machinists, rejected Boeing’s latest offer earlier this month, leading to a strike that began on Aug. 4. The proposal included a 20% pay raise over four years and a $5,000 bonus, but workers are demanding more, including better work-life balance and improvements to scheduling, vacation, and sick time.

Boeing’s Air Dominance Vice President and St. Louis Site Executive, Dan Gillian, said he was surprised at the union’s rejection of the offer, noting it included 40% average wage growth, faster paths to max pay, and additional time off.

The strike affects approximately 3,200 workers in St. Louis who are responsible for building fighter jets and defense systems. The union’s demands highlight a growing concern among workers for not just financial compensation but also quality of life improvements.

The negotiations, scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Monday morning, are crucial for both sides as they seek to resolve the ongoing dispute and resume normal operations.

As negotiations continue, both Boeing and the union are under pressure to reach an agreement that addresses the workers’ demands while maintaining operational efficiency.
