Kaiser Permanente Workers Striking In Roseville Monday

  • 09-08-2025

Hundreds of health care workers for Kaiser Permanente across Northern California will be striking in Roseville and Oakland on Monday.

The United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) called the strike amid ongoing contract bargaining with Kaiser. According to UNAC/UHCP, more than 600 certified nurse midwives and certified registered nurse anesthetists delivered their 10-day notice of a strike last week as they continue to negotiate the first union contract.

The strike will also include other medical workers, including the union's physician assistants and acupuncture providers. Caregivers at Kaiser facilities from Sacramento to Fresno and across the Bay Area are expected to join.

Kaiser Permanente said despite the strike notice, hospitals and medical offices will remain open.

"It is possible that we will need to postpone appointments and surgeries where necessary. In those circumstances, we will contact those affected to reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience should this unnecessary strike occur," Kaiser said in a statement to KCRA 3.

Kaiser said it has been negotiating with the Alliance of Health Care Unions since May on a new national agreement which expires on Sept. 30. UNAC/UHCP is included in the negotiations. .

Monday's strike will begin at 7 a.m.

Here is where UNAC/UCHP said picket lines will be located:

    • Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center and clinics (1600, 1640, 1660 Eureka Road, Roseville, CA)
    • Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center (3600 and 3701 Broadway, Oakland, CA)

Kaiser said the notice it received from the union said the strike begins at 7 a.m. on Monday and employees will return to work Tuesday.

According to Kaiser, the strike will include 1,300 of its 90,000 health care professionals. KCRA 3 has reached out to UNAC/UCHP to compare ask how many strikers it anticipates.
