Ross Local Schools Board Approves Educator Contract, Ending Threat of Strike

  • 12-22-2025

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio —

Students and teachers at Ross Local Schools are now on their holiday break. When they return, there will be no concerns about a strike.

The Board of Education has approved a new contract to keep educators off the picket line.

It comes after the teachers' union voted to authorize a strike following three months of talks.

The union announced a tentative deal earlier this month, and the board approved it last week.

While the exact terms of the contract remain unclear, board officials say the new contract will last four years. Previously, the district had been signing one or two-year agreements.

"While no agreement is perfect, we believe this four-year contract marks an important step forward," said Ross Local Schools Board of Education President Greg Young during the meeting. "One that balances recognition of our educators with a commitment of financial responsibility for the community. We look forward to building this momentum as we focus together on what matters most: Our students and their success."

The teacher's union previously said the agreement would help the district "retain amazing educators."
